Thursday, May. 22, 2003 - 12:42 pm Um... I'm sorry. This relationship just isn't working for me. I'm at www.dailypreciousness.org now. So change that bookmark. Case number 23159: I was showing a patron some materials last week near the DVD collection. After I was done, a little boy came up to me. He was about 8 years old. "Mister," he said to me, with obvious concern in his voice. "I found this on the floor over here." With his right hand, he held a shiny dime. With his other hand he pointed to the carpet beside him. He knelt down to clarify exactly where he found the money. "Oh, okay. Well, it's less than a dollar, so you can just keep it," I explained to him. "Thanks for being so honest. I'm glad you told me about it, but I don't think anybody's going to come back looking for that ten cents. Why don't you just keep it and buy yourself some gum!" The kid beamed and looked at his Mom, who was grinning and nodding in ascent. Case number 23160: Eve, a breezy blonde waitress at the trendy Saint-Ex bar/café on 14th, was having a rough night. She had jangled nerves from the rowdy frat boys, the short supply of seating and the headache that had plagued her since noon that day. Henry asked her "how's it going?" and she honestly replied that she could really use a drink. So he promptly bought her a cocktail. She was so relieved when he handed her that little martini glass! Score another random act of kindness for Henry.
